Where life in the Marauders goes from start to finish, first year to that dreaded Halloween night. Adventures will take place, friends made and broken, enemies hated then maybe loved. The past will be reawaken, and mysteries unlocked. Harry Potter not, but the story before. Time to travel back and start the story at the the Beginning of the Past. Eyelop's Owl Emporium was big. Bigger than most shops in Diagon Alley, the ones that Remus had been to, that is. There were cages all over the place. On shelves, hanging from the ceiling, they were even scattered on the floor. And in every one was an owl. There were Barn, Snowy, Tawny, and Eagle owls. And all were hooting loudly, obviously trying to get Remus' attention.

But the truth was, Remus didn't even know if he wanted an owl, or any pet for that matter. His Hogwarts letter said he had to have a pet to attend, but Remus couldn't help but think of Pumpkin, his orange tabby cat.

True, Pumpkin was a Muggle cat and wouldn't be able to help with any school projects, as was the purpose of magical cats. But he couldn't bare to think of replacing her. So instead he just stood in the middle of the Emporium, browsing.

Sirius walked into Eyelop's Owl Emporium. His father told him to get an owl of any kind because they did not want him to have the family owl. Sirius sighed and looked at the owls. His eyes wandered toward a barn owl, then to a snowy, then to....a human. He wondered if they would be in the same house, "Hi." Sirius said to the kid. Sirius looked at a barn owl. The owl looked at him right in the eye.

Sirius thought about not getting an owl but getting a cat. Cats were better. They were not as loud. His mother had a cat but Sirius was not to make any contact with it. Sirius thought about it for a minute untill he relised that it was stupid to not have two pets at school. Sirius was responsible....sort of.

Sirius sighed again and looked at the boy, "Sirius, Sirius Black." He said and put out his hand to shake. Sirius figiured this guy would be a brainy person, like most people he met. Sirius was not dumb but was definitly not a brainy person. He broke rules and would never be trusted. Sirius played jokes that got him in to trouble but he didn't mind.

(let's say this was the first time they met.)

"Hello, I'm Remus Lupin," he said as he shook the Sirius' hand.

Remus looked the him up and down, and turned away quickly, he was surprised to find him wearing Muggle clothes when he would have bet money that he was from a wizarding family. Sirius seemed much more calm than Remus, like he was used to things. True, Remus wasn't Muggle born, but he'd never been to a place like Diagon Alley or met another wizard his age either. Finally, his curiousity got the better of him and he had to ask.

"Are you a Muggle-born?"

"Good to meet you." Sirius said to Remus. Sirius sized Remus up and decided that it would be better to be friends. Sirius shoke his head messing up his hair. Sirius loved Diagon alley, he had been there many times with his family. Sirius met his family in trips to Diagon alley. Remus was the first person Sirius had met that was actualy not a family member at his age.

"No I'm not. Pureblood, you?"Sirius asked Remus, "Are you getting an owl?"

"That's cool." Sirus replyed to him. Sirus had to think about the answer for the next question, "Well I haven't a pet but my family members do. I might buy a cat. Not sure." Sirius looked at the owls and said, "So I wonder If I can sneak two pets in..." He grined and stroaked a black snowey through the cage.

Remus laughed. "I don't know if that's allowed, but I'm sure it's posible." He watched as a barn owl soared to a perch across the room. "So, have you gotten your wand yet?"

Sirius looked at him and said, "I make anything possible." He had a mystirius grin on his face. Sirius smiled and took the black snowey up to the counter, "Nope. Not yet. After I get my caldren and stuff I will." Sirius turned to the man behind the conter and passed him a galleon. "Thank you." He said to the man and then asked Remus, "What should I name her?" The man behind the counter grunted and then Sirius knew that the owl was a male. "Or him..." Sirius looked at the owl and smiled. He had his own pet now. Wow! I never thought this day would come.

Remus laughed again. "How about Archie?' At this point he could've sworn Sirius' owl was glaring at him. Remus gulped and thought of a new name. "Although Briar is an equally nice name." The owl's eyes were now back on Sirius, and Remus gave a sigh of relief.

"Well..." Sirius said looking at the owl glareing at Remus, "Nah. Hmm...Hows about Ezekiel?" The owl looked at Sirius and he could have sworn it was smileing, "Well, It has a name now!" Sirius smiled amd stroaked the owl.
